Born in 1973, Shah Alam died in 2006 after suffering a heart attack. Establishment of Shah Alam Gallery of Fine Art in memory of that eminent painter. Although the journey started in 2008, the official journey started on April 24, 2009. Shah Alam Gallery is now the only art gallery in Sylhet division. There is no art college in Sylhet division. The gallery was inaugurated in 2009 by the then Finance Minister Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhid MP and special guests were painter Rafiqun Nabi, painter Abul Barak Alvi, painter Tarun Ghosh, Painter Neshar Hossain, painter Jamal Ahmed, painter Gautam Chakraborty. All these painters are currently serving as advisors to this gallery.
